Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So he who gives (in charity) and fears (Allah), 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and he belied the finest 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Indeed, Guidance is Ours, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
