The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Their reckoning has drawn near to men, and in heedlessness are they turning aside. 1 Whenever a new advice comes to them from their Lord, they do not listen to it except while playing. 2 Their hearts are involved in play; and the unjust secretly conferred, “What is he, except another a human like you?! So do you follow magic although you have perceived?” 3 He said: 'My Lord has knowledge of what is said in the heavens and on earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower' 4 Nay, say they, (these are but) muddled dreams; nay, he hath but invented it; nay, he is but a poet. Let him bring us a portent even as those of old (who were Allah's messengers) were sent (with portents). 5 Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? 6 And We sent not before you, [O Muhammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message if you do not know. 7 Nor did We give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death. 8 Then We made Our promise good to them and delivered whomsoever We pleased, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
