Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 Your religion is one and I am your Lord. Have fear of Me". 52 But they (mankind) have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its tenets. 53 So leave them to their ignorance for a time. 54 Do they think that by all the wealth and offspring with which We provide them 55 We would hasten them on in every good? Nay, they do not understand. 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 And those who believe in the communications of their Lord, 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 And those who give what they give (in alms) while their hearts are full of fear that to their Lord they must return, 60 it is they who vie with one another in doing good works, and it is they who outrun [all others] in attaining to them! 61 And [withal.] We do not burden any human being with more than he is well able to bear: for with Us is a record that speaks the truth [about what men do and can do]; and none shall be wronged. 62 Yet their hearts are oblivious of this; and besides, they are busy with other things, 63 So that when We seize the affluent among them with affliction, they will begin to implore for help. 64 Implore not today; verily ye from Us are not to be succoured. 65 Surely My signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back. 66 and arrogantly mocked and reviled them. 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say: "There is madness in him"? Nay, he has brought them the truth - and the truth do most of them detest! 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 And indeed you call them to the Straight Path. 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
