The Parties (Al-Ahzaab)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ O PROPHET FEAR God and do not follow the unbelievers and the hypocrites. 1 And follow what is revealed to thee from thy Lord; surely God is aware of the things you do. 2 And rely upon Allah; and sufficient is Allah as Disposer of affairs. 3 Allah hath not assigned unto any man two hearts within his body, nor hath He made your wives whom ye declare (to be your mothers) your mothers, nor hath He made those whom ye claim (to be your sons) your sons. This is but a saying of your mouths. But Allah saith the truth and He showeth the way. 4 Call them (adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah. But if you know not their father's (names, call them) your brothers in faith and Mawalikum (your freed slaves). And there is no sin on you if you make a mistake therein, except in regard to what your hearts deliberately intend. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful. 5 The Prophet has a greater claim on the faithful than they have on themselves, and his wives are (as) their mothers; and the possessors of relationship have the better claim in the ordinance of Allah to inheritance, one with respect to another, than (other) believers, and (than) those who have fled (their homes), except that you do some good to your friends; this is written in the Book. 6 And when We exacted a covenant from the prophets, and from thee (O Muhammad) and from Noah and Abraham and Moses and Jesus son of Mary. We took from them a solemn covenant; 7 So that He may question the truthful regarding their truth; and He has kept prepared a painful punishment for the disbelievers. 8
