Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 By the heaven with its passages, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 Deluded away from the Qur'an is he who is deluded. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 who are steeped in ignorance and heedlessness. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 It will be on the day when they will be roasted in the fire. 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 As for the God-fearing, they shall be in the midst of gardens and fountains, 15 Accepting what their Lord has given them. Indeed, they were before that doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
