He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
