The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 On a grievous day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 who, when Our verses are recited to him, says: “Mere tales of olden times!” 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On couches face to face. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A fountain whereof will drink those brought nigh. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 On seeing the believers, they would say, "These people have gone astray". 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
