The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He has been created from an ejected drop of fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is no joke. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 but I too plan against them. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
