And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols. 35 Many a man have they led astray, O Lord. So he who follows me is truly of me; but as for him who disobeys me, surely You are forgiving and kind. 36 "Lord, I have settled some of my offspring in a barren valley near your Sacred House so that they could be steadfast in prayer. Lord, fill the hearts of the people with love for them and produce fruits for their sustenance so that they may give thanks. 37 Our Lord, Thou knowest what we keep secret and what we publish; from God nothing whatever is hidden in earth and heaven. 38 Praise to Allah, who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication. 39 My Lord! Enable me and my offspring to establish Prayer, and do accept, our Lord, this prayer of mine. 40 Forgive me, Lord, and forgive my parents and all the believers on the Day of Reckoning." 41
