The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And when the Qur’an is recited to them, they do not fall prostrate? (Command of Prostration # 13) ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
