The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
