Noah (Nooh)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his nation, saying: 'Give warning to your nation before a painful punishment overtakes them' 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 (Bidding you): Serve Allah and keep your duty unto Him and obey me, 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 but it has had no effect on them except to make them run away. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 Then surely I spoke to them in public and I spoke to them in secret: 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers. 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 ‘And in them, has illuminated the moon, and made the sun a lamp?’ 16 "'And Allah has produced you from the earth growing (gradually), 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 ‘So that you may tread the wide roads in it.’” 20
