The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein cool or any drink. 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30

Notes and Instructions
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
