Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
