۞ And assuredly We vouchsafed unto Ibrahim his rectitude aforetime, and him We had ever known. 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said: We found our fathers worshippers of them. 53 He said: "You and your fathers were in clear error." 54 They said: "Are you speaking in earnest, or only jesting?" 55 He said, 'Nay, but your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who originated them, and I am one of those that bear witness thereunto. 56 And, by Allah, I shall circumvent your idols after ye have gone away and turned your backs. 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said: Then bring him (hither) before the people's eyes that they may testify. 61 They said: Is it thou who hast done this to our gods, O Abraham? 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Thereupon they turned to their (inner) selves and said (to themselves): "Surely it is you who are the wrong-doers." 64 Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!" 65 He said, “What! You worship, instead of Allah, one that neither benefits you nor harms you?” 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship instead of God! Will you not, then, use your reason?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said, "O Fire! be thou cool, and (a means of) safety for Abraham!" 69 They wished to entrap him, but We made them greater losers. 70 We saved him and Lot, and brought them to the land which We had blessed for all the worlds. 71 And We gave him Ishaq and Yaqoub, a son's son, and We made (them) all good. 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
