We sent Moses with Our signs to the Pharaoh and his nobles. He said: "I have been sent by the Lord of all the worlds." 46 But when he brought to them Our signs they laughed at them, 47 And not a sign We showed them, but it was greater than its sister sign; and We seized them with chastisement, that haply they should return. 48 They said, "Magician, pray to your Lord for us through your covenant with Him (If he saves us from the torment), we shall certainly seek guidance". 49 Then when We had removed from them the torment, behold they were breaking their promise. 50 And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people: “My people, do I not have dominion over Egypt, and are these streams not flowing beneath me? Can't you see? 51 Am I better or this contemptible man who is scarcely able to express himself? 52 Why were then no bracelets of gold shed upon him from above, or angels sent down as a retinue with him?" 53 Then he incited his people and they obeyed him; verily they were ever a transgressing people. 54 So when they vexed Us, We took vengeance on them, and We drowned them all. 55 And We made them a thing past, and an example for those after (them). 56
