Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 saying, "Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me, 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 And my calling hath only increased them in fleeing. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 And lo! I have called unto them aloud, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 and will provide you with wealth and children, and will bestow upon you gardens and rivers. 12 strengthen you by (providing) you wealth and children, and make gardens and streams for you. What is the matter with you that you are not afraid of the greatness of God 13 When He created you by (divers) stages? 14 ‘Do you not see how Allah has created the seven heavens atop each other?’ 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah has brought you forth from the (dust of) earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 29, Page 97]. 17 then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth. 18 "'And Allah has made the earth for you as a carpet (spread out), 19 so that you may tread its spacious paths.” 20
