Nay! By the moon 32 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 About the criminals, 41 “What took you into the hell?” 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
