The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those that deal in fraud,- 1 those who, when they are to receive their due from [other] people, demand that it be given in full 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 on a fateful Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 No one denies it except for the evil aggressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 which those angels closest to God will bear witness to. 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine, sealed, 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 a wine tempered with the waters of Tasnim, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But on this Day the Believers will laugh at the Unbelievers: 34 On Thrones (of Dignity) they will command (a sight) (of all things). 35 Surely the disbelievers are rewarded as they did. 36
