۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 apart from God, and guide them unto the path of Hell! 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 No indeed; but today they resign themselves in submission 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith! 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah; 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 You will only be recompensed according to your deeds.” 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were eggs carefully protected. 49 Then one turned to the other in an enquiry. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 He will look down and see him in hell. 55 He will say to him: -- By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 But then, [O my friends in paradise,] is it [really] so that we are not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 For the like of this let all strive, who wish to strive. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And thereafter verily their return is unto the Flaming Fire. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 So had many an earlier people gone astray, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except for the chosen servants of Allah? 74
