And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he left towards the laden ship. 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been one of those who struggled hard, 143 He would certainly have tarried in its belly to the day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We cast him out of the fish unto dry land and he was sick. 145 And We caused a plant of gourd to grow over him. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand men or more, 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Did We create the angels females, to which they were witnesses? 150 Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say, 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you then not take heed? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 God is far above what they attribute to Him, 159 Not (so do) the Servants of Allah, sincere and devoted. 160 You and whatever you worship 161 Ye cannot excite (anyone) against Him. 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 [The angels say], "Every single one of us has his place assigned: 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 “We would certainly be the chosen bondmen of Allah.” 169 But they disbelieved in it; soon they shall know! 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 And that Our forces,- they surely must conquer. 173 So turn away from them for a while. 174 And wait; they will come to know soon. 175 Do they wish (indeed) to hurry on our Punishment? 176 But then, once it alights upon them, hapless will be the awakening of those who were warned [to no avail]! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 And peace upon the messengers. 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
