The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 that We may bring forth thereby grain and plants, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 The mountains put in motion turning into a mirage. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
