The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 On that day hearts beat painfully 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 When we have become bones decayed! 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
