The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
