Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 And Him Who hath created male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
