When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said, “These are my guests – do not dishonour me.” 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
