Alshu'araa' 10 of 11
The dwellers of the wood belied the sent ones. 176 Shu'ayb asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 177 "I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 178 So fear Allah and obey me. 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and cause no loss to others. 181 And weigh with an even balance. 182 And do not withhold from people what belongs to them, and do not corrupt the land; 183 Fear Him who created you and those who have gone before you." 184 They said, 'Thou art merely one of those that are bewitched; 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said: 'My Lord knows what you are doing' 188 But they denied him, so there came on them the retribution of the day of gloom. Lo! it was the retribution of an awful day. 189 Lo! herein is indeed a portent; yet most of them are not believers. 190 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 191
