۞ NOW WHENEVER [the nature of] the son of Mary is set forth as an example, [O Muhammad,] lo! thy people raise an outcry on this score, 57 and said: “Who is better, our deities or he?” They said so only out of contentiousness. They are a disputatious people. 58 He is naught but a bondman: him We favoured, and him We made an ensample unto the Children of Israil. 59 If We had so willed We could have made some of you into angels to become your successors on earth. 60 And (Jesus) shall be a Sign (for the coming of) the Hour (of Judgment): therefore have no doubt about the (Hour), but follow ye Me: this is a Straight Way. 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 And when 'Iesa (Jesus) came with (Our) clear Proofs, he said: "I have come to you with Al-Hikmah (Prophethood), and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) in which you differ, therefore fear Allah and obey me, 63 Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path: 64 But certain groups created differences among themselves. Woe to the unjust. They will face a painful torment. 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 Close friends will turn into enemies of one another on that Day, except the pious. 67
