Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for- 39 And that his deeds will be seen, 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 That He did create in pairs,- male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that only upon Him is the next revival? 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace [of them,] 51 and the people of Noah; they were the most unjust and rebellious people. 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 Then covered them with that which covered them. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 He who warns you is one of the warners of old. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 While you are proudly sporting? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
