He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and pious. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And his mother and his father 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
