[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 Recall, when their brother Lot said to them: "Have you no fear? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 163 And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds. 164 "Go you in unto the males of the 'Alamin (mankind), 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: I am in truth of those who hate your conduct. 168 “My Lord, rescue me and my family from their deeds.” 169 We saved him and all of his family, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Then afterward We destroyed the others. 172 and We poured a rain [of destruction] down upon them -- and how evil was the rain which fell on those who were forewarned. 173 Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 174 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
