HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The folk of Pharaoh. Will they not ward off (evil)? 11 He said, “My Lord, I fear that they will deny me.” 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 And come together unto Pharaoh and say: Lo! we bear a message of the Lord of the Worlds, 16 so send forth with us the Children of Israel." 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And you commited what you did, and you are ungrateful!" 19 (Moses) replied: "I did do that and I was in the wrong, 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Fir'awn said: and what is the Lord of the worlds? 23 [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced." 24 (Pharaoh) said unto those around him: Hear ye not? 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 He said: Lord of the east and the west and whatsoever is in-between, if ye understand. 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 (Moses) said: "Even though I have brought to you something convincing?" 30 Fir'awn said: forth with it then, if thou art of the truth-tellers. 31 So [Musa (Moses)] threw his stick, and behold, it was a serpent, manifest. 32 Then he drew out his hand, and it was luminous to the onlookers. 33
