The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and banana trees, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And have made them virgins. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
