Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They said, 'Nay, but we found our fathers so doing.' 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 Do not betray me 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where are the gods that you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By God, we were most obviously astray 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers! 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
