And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 He abandoned his people 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 then the whale swallowed him down, and he blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill. 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 (Muhammad), ask them, "Do daughters belong to your Lord and sons to them? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or, do you have a clear authority? 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they assert a relationship between Him and the jinn; and certainly the jinn do know that they shall surely be brought up; 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 You cannot make anyone rebel against Him. 162 except those who will burn in Hell. 163 And the angels say, “Each one of us has an appointed known position.” 164 Verily, we (angels), we stand in rows for the prayers (as you Muslims stand in rows for your prayers); 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 Had we but an admonition as had the ancients. 168 "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!" 169 But (now that the Quran has come) they disbelieve therein (i.e. in the Quran and in Prophet Muhammad SAW, and all that which he brought, the Divine Revelation), so they will come to know! 170 And, verily, Our Word has gone forth of old for Our slaves, the Messengers, 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Glory to thy Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they ascribe (to Him)! 180 And peace be upon the Envoys; 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
