The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the latter. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 on raised couches. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
