Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the winds sent forth in swift succession, 1 storming tempestuously 2 And by the winds that scatter clouds and rain; 3 By those who winnow with a winnowing, 4 and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts), 5 To excuse or to warn, 6 that whatever with which you have been warned will inevitably come to pass. 7 So when the stars are extinguished, 8 and when the sky is rent asunder 9 The mountains will be blown away as dust. 10 And when the messengers' time has come... 11 For what Day was it postponed? 12 For the Day of sorting out (the men of Paradise from the men destined for Hell). 13 Would that you knew what the Day of Decision is! 14 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 15 Did We not destroy the former generations? 16 and make others settle after them in their land? 17 Thus do We deal with men of sin. 18 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 19 Did We not create you from an insignificant drop of fluid 20 Which We laid up in a safe abode 21 for an appointed term? 22 See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will. 23 Alas the woe that day for those who deny! 24 Made We not the earth to be a housing 25 The living and the dead, 26 And placed in it lofty and broad stablisers, and gave you sweet water to drink? 27 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 28 Walk on to that which you called a lie. 29 Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns 30 that will offer no [cooling] shade and will be of no avail against the flame 31 It will throw out sparks as logs of wood 32 As if they were yellowish [black] camels. 33 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 34 On that Day they will be speechless, 35 neither be given leave, and excuse themselves. 36 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If now you have any strategy, use it against Me. 39 Ruin is for the deniers on that day! 40
