The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will make you to know what At-Tariq (night-comer) is? 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the sky with its returning rain, 11 And by the earth which splitteth, 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 it is no merriment. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
