Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
