The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
