A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 "Follow what has been sent down unto you by your Sustainer, and follow no masters other than Him. How seldom do you keep this in mind! 3 How many cities have We destroyed! Our wrath struck their people at night or during their midday siesta. 4 And when Our Might fell upon them they only said: 'We have indeed been harmdoers' 5 Most certainly then We will question those to whom (the apostles) were sent, and most certainly We will also question the apostles; 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 Truth alone will be of weight that Day. Those whose scales are heavy shall be successful, 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
