The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 The pinnacle of wisdom – so how will the Heralds of warning provide any benefit? 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied before them, and they denied Our servant and said, "A madman," and he was repelled. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 Aad too belied. How then were My punishment and My warnings! 18 For We sent against them a furious wind, on a Day of violent Disaster, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
