Al-Infitaar
Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven becomes cleft asunder, 1 when the stars are scattered, 2 When the oceans begin to flow, 3 And when the [contents of] graves are scattered, 4 Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back. 5 O man! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one, 6 who created you, fashioned you and proportioned you, 7 In whatever form He willed has He assembled you. 8 Nay, [O men,] but you [are lured away from God whenever you are tempted to] give the lie to [God's] Judgment! 9 Verify there are for you guardians, 10 noble scribes 11 Who know (all) that ye do. 12 Surely the virtuous shall be in Bliss, 13 And most surely the wicked are in burning fire, 14 which they shall enter on the Day of Judgement, 15 and then shall never come out of it. 16 What could let you know what the Day of Recompense is! 17 Then, what can make you know what is the Day of Recompense? 18 (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah. 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
