Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I swear by this city, Makkah - 1 – this city wherein you have been rendered violable– 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and struggle. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth' 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and two lips, 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 But he has not attempted the ascent. 11 What could let you know what the height is! 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or a needy person in misery 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 As for those who rejected Our Signs, they are the People of the Left Hand. 19 over them is a Fire covered down. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
