The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 You will become three categories: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
