The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you enveloped in your cloak! 1 arise and warn, 2 And thy Lord do thou magnify! 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 So that is a tough day. 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he thought; 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
