He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
