The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown). 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 hell is made to blaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 then every soul will discover the consequence of its deeds. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 And the breath of morning 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
