And when We commanded the angels, “Prostrate before Adam” – so they all prostrated, except Iblis; he refused. 116 'Adam' We said, 'This is you and your wife's enemy. Do not let him expel you from the Garden, so that you (Adam) will be tired. 117 "Here you shall not go hungry or be naked, 118 And that you shall not be thirsty therein nor shall you feel the heat of the sun. 119 But Satan whispered evil to him, saying, "Adam, shall I lead you to the tree of immortality and to a kingdom that never declines?" 120 And so the two ate [of the fruit] thereof: and thereupon they became conscious of their nakedness and began to cover themselves with pieced-together leaves from the garden. And [thus] did Adam disobey his Sustainer, and thus did he fall into grievous error. 121 Then his Lord chose him, and relented toward him, and guided him. 122 God then told them, "Get out of here all of you; you are each other's enemies. When My guidance comes to you, those who follow it will not go astray nor will they endure any misery. 123 "But whosoever turns away from My Reminder (i.e. neither believes in this Quran nor acts on its orders, etc.) verily, for him is a life of hardship, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Resurrection." 124 He will say:"O my Lord! Why have you raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)." 125 [Allah] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten." 126 In this way We recompense the prodigal who disbelieves the verses of his Lord. But the punishment of the Everlasting Life is more terrible and everlasting. 127 Is it not a guidance for them (to know) how many a generation We destroyed before them, amid whose dwellings they walk? Lo! therein verily are signs for men of thought. 128
