Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 surely what you are being warned against is true, 5 and the Judgement shall doubtlessly take place. 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 And in heaven is your Sustenance, as (also) that which ye are promised. 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
